Request Access to an Existing RIS Storage Location

The majority of ICS' RIS storage access requests will need to allow certain users and/or service accounts access to an existing storage allocation. Usually, the existing allocation will be for a Prinicipal Investigator (PI), and a popular serivce account like I2-SVC-RIS-impexp, an account ICS uses in its automations to read and write to RIS storage. But each situation could be unique. Please use these steps as a guideline to make your RIS access requst:

  1. Go to the [Request a CHANGE to your existing Storage service][1] page on the [RIS Service Desk][0].
  2. Use the following templates when filling out the Service Desk form:

Summary Field: (aka "Title of the JIRA Issue")

Giving <Person or Service Account Name> read/write access to the <short storage allocation name> storage1 allocation

Storage Allocation Name

Should be a path like: /storage1/fs1/<PI-WASHU-KEY-ID>

Description

Use a template like:

Could @<Person or Service Account Name> be given read-write
access to the storage1 allocation (/storage1/fs1/<PI-WASHU-KEY-ID>).
Let us know if you need any further information or details regarding this.

Thanks in advance!

CC

Please include the relevant PI whose storage allocation we are requesting access to, and other key members of ICS related to the project of interest.

Prior Art

Please see RIS Request [ITSD-33577: Giving Jack Claxton read-write access to the I2 storage1 allocation][2] as a prior example of an ICS storage access request.

Creating a Brand New Storage Allocation

Generally, ICS shouldn't be making new storage allocations. This should be deferred to the PI. However, if the need arises, please visit the [Request a NEW Storage Service][3] page on the [RIS Service Desk][0].
