REDCap

REDCap is a free, secure web application that researchers use to build and manage online surveys and databases. REDCap is used by thousands of universities, hospitals, and other research organization around the world (REDCap (projectredcap.org)) . Vanderbilt University developed and maintains REDCap software. REDCap software is provided free to institutions given the institution supports the system and users.
WashU REDCap is free to anyone with a WUSTL Key and has several thousand active users and projects. Maintaining REDCap requires technical support, user support, technical support, and reporting of usage statistics.
REDCap Instances
There are currently three separate instances of REDCap: Production (Prod), Quality Assurance (QA), and Development (Dev). Another instance of REDCap Prod (REDCap Version 7), has been decommissioned in 2024 with data and metadata stored in Databricks. The page below provides an overview of these instances.
REDCap Technical Support
REDCap Technical Support consists of upgrades and maintenance of the REDCap software, PHP, and MySQL database. The current versions of each of these can be found on the REDCap Control Center (Administrative Privileges Required). The pages below provide an overview of the upgrade process.
