Platform Engineering Roadmap

This is a living document meant to track Platform Engineering projects that have impact across I2DB and on external teams. These projects include things such as internal process and tooling improvements, as well as new services the team publishes for the university's research community.

Previous Accomplishments

Team Management

• 2024 - Q1
  • Pulled together disparate ICS team members under the Platform Engineering structure.
  • Created team structure and work streams.

ArcGIS Infrastructure

• 2024 - Q2
  • Built production instance of ArcGIS to be used to geocode data host in the data lake.

I2DB Documentation

• 2024 - Q3
  • Created a central repository to contain I2DB related documentation.
  • Built a pipeline to publish a web site for the documentation.

I2DB Ticketing & Support

• 2024 - Q3
  • Created a set of REDCap projects to manage both cross team and customer requests.
  • Created custom data lake request project to help ensure the compliance of request related to data access within the WUSM data lake.

Source Control Management

• 2024 - Q3
  • I2DB Data Brokerage team migrated to using Git repositories for source code management.
