Who is ICS

Who we are
Informatics Core Services is a team of made up of data analysts, data engineers, system engineers, and other technical specialists. These combined skills provide a strong foundation to support the data analytics and informatics work at the university.
This includes providing assistance with data extraction, multi-site project support, self-service data collection and analysis tools, among other things. See our community site for a complete list of platforms and services available.

Data Services
ICS provides a variety of services to assist with your project. Below are a few of the highlights.
Data Brokerage
The ICS Data Brokerage team specializing in delivering the data you need for your project. This includes extracting EHR data from EPIC, recreating recurring data delivers, and creating custom data models.
Common Data Models
- ICS can build and host common data models
- OMOP is the primary data model we host and promote for use
- ICS can also build and host Multi-site Registries and facilitate Data Sharing

Custom Datamarts
- ICS can assist with building and hosting data marts specific to a given project or departmental need.
Feasibility Counts
- ICS provides several ways to query for feasibility counts for your project using available self-service tools

Just In Time funding
- ICS is a JIT ICTS core
- JIT funds can be used to pay for ICS platforms and services
ML/GenAI/LLMs
- Assist with access to API endpoints both OpenAI and other models
- Provide fine tuning environment
- Data storage for training data and model evaluations

Self-Service Platforms
- ICS hosts many self-service platforms and tools.
- These tools are provided to empower the university community to allow for independent research activities
- Tools cover activities such as data collection, data analysis, synthetic data generation, feasibility counts, and more

WUSM Data Lake
- Robust data analytics platform built with governance and easy of use at it's core
- OMOP data available
- Custom data marts
- Common tools such as notebooks and JDBC connections
- ML/AI training and evaluation
