TrackingTime is used to track our time for billing purposes.

There are two types of projects:

  • Public projects- everyone on the team is able to log time under public projects
  • Private projects- these are assigned projects or sourced projects

Accessing TrackingTime.co

  • TrackingTime
  • Users can log in using their Microsoft credentials which will work with existing WUSTL 2-factor authentication.

Public Projects

  • Administration - For time spent checking emails and doing "the general business of doing business."

  • Non-project meetings go here, unless they are for education/training.

  • Agile Ceremonies - For time spent in scrum, backlog refinement, sprint planning, demo, etc. No need to break it down by type of ceremony (backlog refinement, scrum, etc.), just list the amount of time per day

  • BYOB Support - For time spent doing regulatory review and onboarding for "BYOB" brokers who are fully sourced to a specific department.

    • Currently these resources include: Inez Oh, Alex Kronzer, Alice Bewley, Cherie Hill
  • Infrastructure/maintenance - Previously included I2 support, this is time spent on internal, non-project specific work, or internal ONLY projects such as the Data Broker Audit Database, Version upgrades (PostgreSQL, SAS studio server, etc.)

    • Data brokers will not likely often log time here. Data warehousing might, but most infrastructure/maintenance work will be project specific (RDC, MDClone, etc.)
  • Project Intake - Time spent for requirements gathering; pre-funding non-billable time (post-funding time beyond initial consultation will be rolled into billable project time)

  • PTO - time off, including sick time, vacation time, and holidays.

  • Technical Debt - TECHNICAL DEBT REQUIRES MANAGEMENT APPROVAL. This should only be used for issues that we are aware of that were created by our previous work (as opposed to infrastructure/maintenance items)

  • Data Lake – Med School – Use this category for any training or skill development that:

    • Supports general code development or technical training directly related to the data lake
    • Enhances capabilities in maintaining or leveraging the data lake
    • Promotes enterprise-wise use of the data lake or supports the broader mission of the School of Medicine
  • RDC (Labeled as "RDC Improvements" in DevOps)- Select this bucker for activities that:

    • Develop skills aimed at improving our existing services
    • Enable us to expand the range of services the I2DB team can offer
  • Education/Training - This is the genal category for all other training activities such as:

    • Tier 5 meetings, lectures, etc.
    • Time spent training others or being trained on specific software or languages would go here, too.
    • This is also for self-directed learning or coursework
    • Skill development that doesn't directly align with Data lake or RDC categories
